Callie Herring
Callie Herring, Discipleship Team Co-Leader
Callie likes to talk. She talks to friends, strangers, people who want to listen to her, and people who have no idea she is trying to carry on a conversation with them. And when Callie starts talking, there is one thing you can be sure of: she will be talking about something completely different than where she started when she decides to stop. But she’s also no-nonsense. She says what she means, and she’s not afraid to be a little on the abrasive side. Assertive and passionate, Callie wants to see people loved into the Kingdom of God. She’s not scared to talk about Jesus…with anyone. Callie is a junior Elementary Education major from Wadesboro. She is athletic, enjoying sports, hiking, running, and jumping off waterfalls. Much of her spare time is spent volunteering in the Women’s Center on campus, and her goal last year was dressing nice at least once every week. Not sure if that happened or not.
Some other fun facts on Callie:
- She wanted to be a Marine Biologist when she was a kid.
- She loves The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks.
- She listens to Josh Turner and Pitbull.
- Her favorite action flick is Taken, but the best movie of all time is Little Rascals.
- She loathed Burn After Reading.
- She eats her pizza at Capone’s and gets her coffee from Espresso News.
- Choosing between boogers, earwax, toenails, or scabs, Callie thinks the boogers are the grossest.
Callie connected with BCM even before she arrived on campus when she started communicating with Jonathan via email. But what made her stick around was how real BCM is – a “real community that is honestly seeking to follow after and be more like Jesus.” Beyond that, she loves the fact that “we are incredibly weird!” This year Callie wants to see missional living be something that is practiced even more than it’s is talked about. As Discipleship Team Co-Leader, Callie is responsible for helping Tori create and execute a model of discipleship that equips, sends, and resources students to live as missionaries.
