Jordan Hammaker
Jordie. Or Hammie. She’s answered to both. But when she peed her pants in front of the whole church during a kids program no one knew quite what to call her. Except mortified. How embarrassing!
Jordan is really organized. She likes to know what’s going on and tries to remove the possibility of any “surprises.” That must be why she is here at App following the dream she had, even as a child, of being a teacher. She’s a Junior Elementary Education major with the hope of being able to invest in the lives of children – even if they have bladder accidents in front of large crowds!
Jordan identifies with Ruth in the Bible, mainly because of the way Ruth was willing to do whatever God wanted. Jordan says, “I want to be the kind of person who says that she will follow God no matter what circumstances surround my life.”

Jordan got involved with BCM the very first week of her freshman year. Why did she stick around? She says, “I love that BCM encourages you to be more than a Christian that goes to church and sings worship songs. I love that BCM challenges me to live out my faith every day.” As Prayer Team Leader, Jordan is responsible for creating an overarching ministry of prayer that leads us into the will of God. It’s a daunting task as she states, “I am nervous about my position because there are going to be a lot of changes in the Prayer Team this year. There will be a lot of new things that I will be implementing and with new things come chances for mistakes.” But in the end, Jordan is most excited about seeing what happens on campus this year as a result of her work with the prayer team. After all, she says, “I think that if we cover our ministry in prayer God will be able to do mighty things on App’s campus.” Indeed He will. You can email Jordan at hammakerjs@appstate.edu.
