BCM is not a church, but it is part of the Church. BCM does not take the place of a church in a student’s life. Instead, we seek to connect students to local churches while they are in college. In the sense of the Greek word for church ekklesia, there are some similarities. We do gather like an assembly would. We do have a clear purpose in our gathering. And we are a group of people trying to follow Jesus. But when it comes to how a church is meant to function, we are quite different. We are not inter-generational. Most everyone involved in BCM is 18-25 years old. We are not self-supportive; we are dependent upon denominational, church, and individual support. We exist because of a partnership between churches, and we are a missional extension of those churches. There are several churches that partner with us in a personal way. Some give financially to our ministry. Some provide us with resources. Some provide meals for us on Tuesday nights. And some work with us on mission projects. They are all great churches with their own identities and strengths. Take some time to check them out, along with what some of our students have to say about them.
